Many famous festivals and events happen in Uptown Waterloo’s Centre Square, such as the Sun Life FInancial Jazz Festival, Sun Life Financial Buskers Carnival and Waterloo’s winter festival Winterloo

Off of Victoria Street South and Strange Street is Victoria Bowling Lanes, a long-standing tenant of the Kitchener entertainment community. Offering bowling, food, and drinks Victoria bowling is a family-friendly venue that provides food and drinks along with bowling. 

On Cherry HIll’s north side is FunVilla, an indoor play park for kids and a venue to host events; it is easy to find and perfect for throwing child-friendly activities. Graffiti Market + Red Circle Coffee Co.

Located at Catalyst137, Graffiti Market began with the singular goal of fuelling the creative spirit in its staff and community through a unique mixture of food, art and technology. Graffiti Market also offers Smart tables that display local graffiti and urban artists’ work, if you’re looking for a treat for all the senses you can find this unique restaurant off of Glasgow and Belmont. 

This venue also is the first of its kind; it acts as a microbrewery, coffee roaster and bakery. Red Circle Coffee Co. offers incredible caffeinated drinks paired with delicious fresh bakery items. 

Located at 175 Strange Ave is City Cafe, a locally renowned bakery that excels in freshly baked goods and exceptional customer service. It does not take debit or credit as it is a cash-only business that runs on the honour system, asking customers to pay in change. It is a nice change to the standard cafe format and offers specialty goods like fresh personalized pizzas and baked goods. 

Mcmullan’s is a Kitchener Waterloo based set of pubs; the first opened on the corner of Princess and King street in Waterloo’s uptown, and the second is their Kitchener location on Highland and Patricia. It is a classic pub offering great food and drinks located in the heart of Cherry Hill. 

Healthcare

On Cherry Hill’s Westside is  Belmont Family Medical Centre, which offers primary care services including but not limited to prenatal care, pediatric care, urgent care and periodic health exams. Directly South, you will find St. Mary’s General Hospital, one of the Waterloo Region’s leading experts in Cardiology. As of 2019, St.Mary’s was accredited with exemplary standing through their commitment to being North America’s leader in applying LEAN to healthcare. North of Cherry Hill is Grand River Hospital, the region’s leader in cancer treatment and newborn delivery.

Within Cherry Hill is St. John’s Catholic Elementary School servicing students from JK-Grade 8 St.Johns fosters a learning environment that provides students with an excellent education from teachers who understand their specific needs. Transit

Cherry Hill’s location is ideal for those looking to utilize Grand River Transit’s public transit options to commute to work. Throughout the neighbourhood routes, 4 and 20 can take you through downtown and loop back to Waterloo’s Boardwalk terminal. Routes 1 and 12 run along the very edge of the neighbourhood’s borders offering access to Conestoga Mall and Fairview Mall’s Terminals.

Finally, the route 204 is the iXpress between the boardwalk and the West-side of Kitchener via Ottawa and Lackner. On the northern edge of Cherry Hill running along King Street is the ion Light Rail Transit; it has stations in front of Grand river hospital and Uptown waterloo connecting the city from either end stopping at Conestoga and Fairview Mall. 

 

Parks & Recreation

Iron Horse Trail

Iron Horse Trail runs through Cherry Hill along a former railway path. This makes the trail a scenic and historic landmark for the city. Many may not know that this route is part of the Trans Canada Trail and stretches around 5 km. The trail joins both Uptown Waterloo and Downtown Kitchener. It was made in an effort between the two cities to preserve a historic passage by turning it into a trail for recreational purposes. Iron Horse Trail allows residents to take in the city’s beautiful urban landscapes and green spaces. It is perfect for any family who loves the outdoors.

Parks

Victoria Park is aptly nicknamed Kitchener’s crown jewel; with a mixture of natural beauty and modern features. The park offers hiking trails, two massive playground structures, and during the winter months, and a free public skating rink. Cherry Park is located in the heart of the Cherry Hill neighbourhood, providing a green space and community hub for Cherry Park Neighbourhood Association to host events. Belmont Park offers residents an outdoor basketball, tennis and horseshoe courts to enjoy the outdoor space. Raddatz Park offers a forested area and a playground across from St. John Elementary school. FInally further north along king is Waterloo Park, Waterloo’s answer to Victoria Park, in the summer it offers a large outdoor splash pad, year-round zoo, sports fields, a boardwalk along the lake in the centre and three playgrounds.
