Location

Eastwood is located directly South of Kitchener’s downtown core, with King Street running along its southern border, making travel to and from Eastwood simple.

The LRT Ion route runs along King St. so residents can catch a train at Borden Station. With easy access to Highway-8, getting around Waterloo is that much more convenient.

Shopping & Entertainment 

 Within the neighbourhood of Eastwood, you will find an assortment of shops, community spaces, and family-owned restaurants to explore. The Schwaben Club is an event hall that holds concerts and festivals. It is also host to some of the most popular Oktoberfest events in all of Kitchener. 

Kitchener’s downtown core is a short LRT trip North on King Street, where you can find The Museum, Centre In The Square, Victoria Park, The Kitchener Public Library, and Kitchener’s City Hall, to name a few of the locations. Some excellent restaurants to visit here are Rainbow Caribbean cuisine and Kinkaku Izakaya if you’re looking to try something new.

Within a short trip South on Highway-8, you’ll find Fairview Park Mall and Fairway Plaza, two of the largest shopping districts on this side of Kitchener. If you head further south, you will arrive at Sportsworld Crossing. Here you’ll find an assortment of shops including a Nike Factory Store, Urban Planet, and Costco Wholesale Kitchener. There is a lot to experience, and Eastwood has something for everyone.

 

HealthCare 

Residents in need of care can use Grand River Hospital located further North on King. There is also the smaller campus Freeport Hospital which specializes in long-term specialized mental health, mammography, and kidney dialysis.

Eastwood has a variety of restaurants within its borders for residents to enjoy. If you’re a seafood fan, there is a Red Lobster located within Eastwood. If you’re looking for ethnic cuisine, Leung Yue Hot Pot offers delicious and authentic Asian dishes. A M African Restaurant gives residents a taste of authentic Ethiopian food and serves as an ethnic shop with African goods being sold here as well. A short trip south of Eastbridge, residents can visit FreshCo at Weber and Franklin for all their grocery needs. 

Schooling / Child Care

Residents of Eastwood have quite a few choices when it comes to elementary schools. Within a short trip from Eastwood, there are four public schools, Sunnyside Public Middle School, and three other elementary schools for students Grades 1 through 8. 

There are catholic school options within a short trip from Eastwood as well. St. Daniel Catholic Elementary School offers grades 1 through 8 and is a short journey from Eastwood.

 

Within the neighbourhood is one of Kitchener’s post-secondary schools, Eastwood Collegiate Institute. ECI is known for its specialized curriculum that focuses on the performative and visual arts for students looking to pursue these as their field of studies. For high school students looking to pursue a Catholic education, St. Mary’s Highschool is just South-West of Eastwood on Block Line Road. The school is known for its excellent ESL programs. 

If you have children under four years old, Sunny Daycare is a quick trip down on Kingsway Drive; The Daycare is a smaller location ensuring all the kids get the attention they need throughout the day.

Kitchener Memorial Auditorium is located on the Northern side of Eastwood along Ottawa St N. The memorial complex includes the Dom Cardillo Arena, Kinsmen Arena, Kiwanis Arena, and the Jack Couch Baseball Park.
