Grand River South is a newer development with the beautiful Grand River winding to the East and Chicopee Ski Hill to the West, it brings nature right into your backyard.

Grand River South is located in Kitchener East with its twin neighbourhood, Grand River North. These two communities share much of the same characteristics and features, the most popular of which is of course the Grand River itself that borders them both, along with its many trails and parks.

Most of the houses in the area have been built after 2001. There is a range of detached homes available. Only 3% of residents rent their property, with the majority owning their homes. Households are mainly small families with – on average – two children. If you’re a young, active family, buying a home in Grand River South is a great option for you.

Public school students in Grand River South attend either Lackner Woods Public School or Chicopee Public School starting in JK through to Grade 6. Their senior years (7 and 8) are spent at Sunnyside Public School. From there, they are bussed to Grand River Collegiate Institute for high school along with Grand River North students.

As for Catholic students, Grand River South children attend Saint John Paul II Catholic School for JK – grade 8. After graduation, they will commute via bus to Saint Mary’s Catholic Secondary School off of Block Line Road in Kitchener.

For high school, Grand River North and South students attend Grand River Collegiate Institute together.

If your children attend or will attend Catholic school, they will go to Canadian Martyrs Catholic Elementary School. This elementary school is well-known and respected for introducing several daily activities for enhancing the learning experience. From there, students complete their high school years at St. Mary’s Catholic Secondary School.

GRT Route 23 runs through Grand River South, which connects you with Fairview Mall making it easy to transfer to the ION Light Transit Rail or jump on another bus route to travel just about anywhere in the tri-cities. Because there is currently only one bus route in the area (among other reasons), only 1% of the Grand River South residents use the GRT to get around.

Access to the expressway and Highway 401 is relatively close-by, making it easy to get from one end of Kitchener to the other end of Waterloo in good time. Also handy for trips to Toronto or further north to cottage country!
