Hidden Valley

Neighbourhood Guide_Hidden Valley

Hidden Valley is a unique and beautiful area of Kitchener. If you’re looking for a quiet and scenic neighbourhood to settle down, then we highly recommend you take a tour of the area. The homes are modern, detached houses with large lots, perfect for playing outdoors. Most of the houses are located along the neighbourhoods two main streets, Hidden Valley Road and Hidden Valley Court, giving the community a feeling of intimacy and privacy.

Glacial eskers, significant wetlands, large woodlands, wildlife habitat, source water protection areas, and the Grand River are several of the environmental characteristics that set this area apart from the rest of the city.  For the nature-lover, there is always something to see and do with your family.

Hidden Valley is a newer, growing area of Waterloo Region. With the population expected to quadruple in the coming years, you can expect additional amenities, housing, and jobs coming to your neighbourhood.

Although there are no schools directly in Hidden Valley, quick access to Highway 8 and Fairway Road means there are both public and catholic school options a short bus ride away. For parents looking for top-quality private education, One Forest Montessori is located nearby. It does have limited availability, so we suggest you enroll your children as early as possible.

Location

Hidden Valley is tucked between the Grand River, Highway 8, Wabanaki Drive, and the rail corridor near Fairway Road. With over 183 hectares of property, it has an almost rural landscape. There are rolling hills covered with mature woods and some estate lots even border the river and farm fields nearby.

There you’ll find large department stores such as Walmart and The Bay, a food court with over 10 restaurants, and smaller boutiques of every kind.

Fairview road itself is also lined with every type of service, brand name store, and local shop you can think of from Michaels Arts and Crafts to high-end lighting. Schooling / Child Care

There are numerous schools nearby for you to choose from including public, catholic, and private options. While none of the schools are directly in the neighbourhood, they can all be easily accessed via Highway 8 and Fairway road.

One Forest Montessori is an exceptional private school for your children to attend, but due to popularity you need to register early. They offer preschool to grade 6. For public school, your children will attend Howard Robertson Public School and Sunnyside Public School. Howard Robertson Public School offers junior kindergarten to grade 6, at which point they graduate and move on to Sunnyside Public School for grades 7 and 8.

All catholic students will attend St. Aloysius Catholic Elementary School from kindergarten to grade 8. Located in downtown Kitchener, this school serves a significantly high multicultural and multilingual student population, which will allow your children the opportunity to learn from other cultures and experience diversity.

Once they graduate, public school students will head to Eastwood Collegiate (which is known locally for it’s strong arts program offering) while Catholic students will head to St. Mary’s.
