Located on Kitchener’s Southern side is Laurentian Hills. Laurentian is a well-developed neighbourhood and is a very established area, with homes fit for any new family. Location

Laurentian Hills is a sought after area, as it has everything you need within a short distance. Located on Kitchener’s Southside with easy access to the 401 and HWY-08. You will find that commuting or travelling around easy due to its optimal location. Within its borders, you will find four elementary schools, an adult assisted living community and an abundance of recreational services. With Sunrise Shopping Centre directly to the west, Williamsburg immediately south and Alpine Centre to the East, your choices for shopping and entertainment are many.

At the top of McLennan Park, you will find the tallest peaks in the K-W region, which has gained notoriety as a tobogganing hill in the wintertime. Laurentian Plaza placed in the centre of Laurentian Hills, on the corner of Ottawa and Westmount. A Fresh Co. is the anchor store here with an Anytime Fitness (and more). All within the centre of the neighbourhood.

Laurentian Smart Centre

Located east on the corner of Chandler Drive and Ottawa Street South is the Laurentian Smart Centre. This shopping plaza is home to a Lowe’s, Zhers and Staples. Convenient for shopping and any need your family may have, can be remedied with a quick stop around the corner. Some of the shops featured here are:

Alpine Centre

Right across from the Smart Centre is the Alpine Centre. Here we have recreational activities for different tastes. Sunrise Centre 

Sunrise Shopping Centre located in the North-West corner of Laurentian Hills; unlike the Smart Centre, Sunrise has more choice of shops and recreational establishments. Larger stores like Walmart and Canadian Tire share space with La Vie en Rose, Old Navy and Ardenes. It is no problem to travel here as the buses use the plaza as a hub for stops and transfers.     There are four schools within the neighbourhood’s borders, two Catholic Schools and two Public Schools. All schools have JK to Grade 8, making this neighbourhood perfect for those looking to start a family or settle for an extended period. The location of schools in this area is relatively close, great for families who are looking to move to a place where schooling is close to home.

    When we talk about families, children are not the only ones who may need care throughout the day. On the Southern end of Laurentian is the Assisted Living Community of Winston Park (or better known as The Village of Winston Park).This community offers elderly living facilities for both assisted and solo living and has a YMCA daycare attached.

Transit

Within Laurentian, there are three bus routes travelling within the neighbourhood and make connections at some of GRT’s main bus terminals. The bus lines 22, 3 and 33 take you to Laurentian’s corners. These buses also connect into the Williamsburg neighbourhoods and finish at the Sunrise Plaza. This neighbourhood is great for anyone using public transit as it is positioned between two major bus stations, Forest Glen Plaza and Sunrise Plaza. Parks & Recreation

There are many parks, trails and greenspaces located in Laurentian Hill. Spend your days out in nature without having to leave the comforts of your neighbourhood! Most notable is McLennan Park with its dirt bike courses, enclosed dog park, a waterpark, volleyball courts and hiking trails. You’ll find yourself constantly finding new ways to relax here.
