Living in Westmount means nothing is ever really out of reach with a short 5-minute drive east, and you’ll find Waterloo’s Uptown Core. Here you’ll discover anything you could need; from grocery stores, restaurants, entertainment venues, and much more. 

Year-round events are hosted in Waterloo Town Square, including the annual Busker Carnival, a winter festival, and even pop-up events like human-sized chess. 

Located in the Uptown Square Mall is Bob’s value-mart. You’ll find a wide selection of fresh produce and a hot-table selection that will make dinner a breeze for those days you want something quick and simple.

If you’re looking for a more comprehensive selection, head over to T&T Supermarket located at Father-David Bauer and Westmount, T&T is an ethnic supermarket featuring Asian and pacific Asian products. 

The Princess Twin Cinemas is a Waterloo heritage site that’s been open for 35 years. The set of theatres play cult classics and critically acclaimed films. 

Looking for a quiet place to study or read? Then you may want to visit The Waterloo Public Library. It’s located on Dupont St. W and Albert Street, offering computer access, books, and family-friendly events. 

For date night, visit Jane Bond,  an intimate bar that offers live music and events aimed at a more alternative crowd with an outdoor patio and mixed cocktails; it’s a real hidden gem in Uptown Waterloo. Another option is the Duke of Wellington Public House, a British pub famous for its authentic food, a wide choice of brew on tap, and incredible live shows.

Westmount is right around the corner to some of Waterloo’s most luxurious restaurants. Watami Sushi and Jinzakaya both offer all you can eat sushi, or you may want to consider one of two luxurious lounges, Proof Kitchen + Lounge & Solé Restaurant and Wine Bar, both offering high-quality cuisine. 

HealthCare 

Just a short trip south is Westmount Place Walk-In Clinic and the Rapid Access Addiction Clinic (RAAC) that take walk-in patients. If you need immediate medical care, Grand River Hospital is around the corner from Westmount, along with the surrounding Medical District.

Transit 

Living in Westmount means you can access the main GRT bus routes and have easy access to the LRT system that connects Kitchener-Waterloo. Route 5 and 202 offer accessible transit to Waterloo’s Boardwalk; you will be able to travel most places in the city with minimal transfers and rapid service. Below is a list of bus routes that run through the Uptown core. 

Parks

One of the best parts about living in the Westmount community is how close it is to Waterloo’s best green spaces. Often referred to as Waterloo’s crown jewel, Waterloo Park is a great place to visit and enjoy nature. Waterloo Park is more than just a common green space, though; here, you’ll find four baseball fields, a scenic community garden, a newly constructed cricket field, and six tennis courts, and that’s just the west end of the park! Head over to Waterloo Park’s south end, and you’ll find a skatepark, numerous trails, and a seasonal splash pad. Waterloo Park is also home to a zoo that’s open year-round, home to pigs, goats, and even some peacocks. You can experience so much just a 5 minute trip from home.
